Jean Baudrillard’s Concept of the Masses and Modern Communicative Situation (by Olga Krasnoyarova) explores
Jean Baudrillard’s concept of the masses in the long term transformation of modern information and communication
environment. The focus is on the problems of massivization and individualization of media reality communication due to
Internet space and the concept of the masses in terms of its existence on the Internet (the «mass-line» and «off-line»).

Cultural Studies Discourse after Postmodernism (by Catherine Shapinskaya) analyzes the challenges facing cultural
studies in the XXI century. In the first place the features of culture of the (post) postmodern era are to be studied

significant provisions of the postmodern theory in terms of their relevance today are also considered.

Cyber Culture: the Genesis of the Phenomenon (by Tatiana Savitskaya) analyzes the socio-cultural roots of global

allocates a number of stages in the formation of cyber culture in the bosom of the Western sub cultural formations of
1960—1980-s.

The Problem of Demythologization (by Oleg Kiryazev) deals with the phenomenon of myth which is estimated not
as the archaic form of the world-view but as the indispensable link of the cognitive process. Thus the problem consists

mythological narrative.

which interact with the environment, sharing with it the energy and / or substance — that is the systems that obey the
laws of synergetics.

Morbid Passion for Health, or How to Adapt to the Pain (by Gulnara Khaydarova) considers a phenomenon of pain
that presents in every culture and the ideas of which develop in ages. Therefore the analysis of these ideas in a particular
cultural context sheds light on society itself, defines the scope of its humanity, rationality, civility. The pain is familiar
to everybody as initial personal experience, thereby it is specific to all the living beings and thus the pain unites all of
them. The pain could be considered as ontological condition of existence. In present the essential changing of cultural
strategy seems to be an actual challenge: one should not seek to overcome the pain but rather needs to adapt to it. The
elimination and the oblivion of pain by means of chemicals and pharmacology lead to exacerbation.

The Problem of «Society-Man-Tastes»: Experience and Prospects of Research in the Field of Philosophy of
Culture (by Alexander Kostyaev) offers the authors’ analysis and interpretation of a phenomenon of taste. The article
presents well-reasoned origins and peculiarities of the phenomenon.

Types and Functions of Violence Representation in Contemporary Screen Culture (by Inessa Tropina) analyzes
the forms of violence representation and their dependence on the situation of contemporary culture and society. The
functions of screen violence are revealed, and their dependence on the forms of violence and on the audience request,
which is formed in the culture by value and ethic orientation, interpersonal attitudes and the main point of a person
are exposed.

Our Mass Cinema ... What about What? (by Victoria Chistyakova) considers the latest situation in contemporary
home mass cinema, including TV products (e.g. TV-serials). The author analyzes the relationship of the products of mass
culture with ideology of society. There are numerous examples of the Russian feature films and TV products for wide
audience which are dedicated to the values of criminal world and its own distinctive culture or visualize cynicism and
irresponsibility deliberately understood as a standard of behaviour of a modern Russian man. The conclusion about total
negative character of modern Russian screen culture which is a considerable part of Russian mass media space is drawn.

«Art» of Repetition, Mass Culture, and Cinema (by Yury Ugolnikov) discusses the evolution of traditional art
(citing painting as an example) in the XX and XIX centuries, its transformation under the influence of a new industrial
mass art — cinema, as well as the ways to change the presentation of works of art and the artist’s interaction with the
audience (consumers of art in general) and the reality of a new era.

Socio-Cultural Functions’ and Female Body’s Representation in Animated Film «Shrek» (by Darja Gordeeva)
deals with postmodern gender figurativeness in animated cartoon «Shrek». Traditional migrant themes represented in
game form find their modern politically correct perception.

Local Cultural Texts in the Cultural Landscape Context (by Olga Lavrenova) considers a cultural landscape as
a sign system, where characters exist in complex multivalent relations, so it may be regarded as a text accessible for
reading. A cultural landscape is different from the culture it produces in the fixation of sense in particular locus of
space. In various kinds of fiction and documentary texts, which are an expression of the mentality of the local and the
national culture, the semantics of a cultural landscape is documented and/or generated. Examining the reflection of
the place in a literary text, as well in folklore, gives an opportunity to reconstruct processes underlying.

The Significance of Western European Animal Painting of XVII—XIX Centuries in the Development of Russian
Animal Painting School (by Irina Portnova) considers the processes of formation of Russian animal painting school,
identifies its specific features been influenced, in particular, by German animal painters.

«Live Talks of Well-Known Dead» (by Natalia Bogatyreva) is devoted to Vvedenskoye (German) cemetery in
Moscow. Located in the Lefortovo district, it is a veritable museum of Russian culture, science, philosophy, and religious
thought. Many prominent writers, artists, religious thinkers, actors, musicians, scientists and military men are
buried there. The «holy doctor of Moscow», F. Haas, is among them. There is a memorial dedicated to the pilots of the
Normandie-Niemen squadron and other memorials.

Gerhard Richter. Paradoxes of the Creative Method and Artistic Language (by Olga Kiseleva) is dedicated to
the study of evolution of the creative method of a well-known German visual artist Gerhard Richter. Richter’s paintings
of various styles such as photorealism, abstract expressionism, minimalism, have been analyzed in the article with a
particular focus on diversity of his artistic language.

Implementation of Competence Approach to Master Educational Programmes of Culturologists: Approaches,
Problems, Practice (by Galina Zwereva) is devoted to the acute questions of fostering competences in the master

in terms of the level of competences to be obtained by the learner and to the methods of its assessment.

Approaches to Diagnosis of Organization’s Problematic Situations (by Irina Savina) considers some quite

leading to tension in the activity in the interactions and relations between staff and with external agents. All this
creates a mobile, changing and uncertain context of the functioning of the organization, which must be considered

History of the Origin of «Slaves’ New Narratives» Genre: Genre’s Some Features (by Julia Sapozhnikova)
examines the origin and background of a special literary genre of an Afro-American literature — Slaves’ New Narratives.
They include literary works written by Afro-Americans about Afro-Americans in order to understand their own identity,
to overcome cultural trauma inflicted by slavery and to feel themselves free citizens of the free country.

The Style Representations of Glossy Magazines («ELLE» and «Mini», for Example) (by Yulia Dolgova) considers

It all confirms a reflection that a glossy magazine can be contextual. And that is certainly certified by the study.

The Number in the Bible and in the Works of Dostoevsky (by Alexander Voloshinov, Nina Ryazanova) discusses
the significant role of ternar and quaternion structures in the universe and the world culture and gives some arguments,
clarifying this role. The article also examines the symbolism and the semantics of numbers 3 and 4 in the Bible and in
Dostoevsky’s texts. Special attention is paid to the manifestation of the Christian idea of the Trinity in triad structures
in Dostoevsky’s texts, particularly, in the fundamental cultural triad of Truth, Beauty, and Kindness.

Management on the Basis of Sharia in the Views of the Medieval Muslim Theologian and Jurist Ibn Taymiyyah
(by Anna Matochkina) concerns the political views of the medieval theologian and legal scholar Ibn Taymiyyah. Works
of this famous Islamic scholar, theologian and logician are of great interest today because of his influence on modern
Islamic radical movements. In matters of governance, he proposed to follow the divine law — the Sharia as the highest
authority.
