NIKITIN VICTOR YAKOVLEVICH was born on September 8,
1928 in Chinaz of the Tashkent Region of the Uzbek Soviet
Socialist Republic. In 1947 he entered the Kazan veterinary
institute of N.E. Bauman. In 1952 he graduated from the
veterinary faculty with honors and by the solution of the
academic board of the institute for excellent study and
extracurricular activities he was recommended for the
postgraduate study for the chair of obstetrics headed by the
Honored worker of science of RSFSR and TASSR, the
corresponding member of the All-Union Academy of Agricultural
Sciences of V.I. Lenin, the leading obstetrician of the country,
professor A.P.Studentsov. In 1955 ahead of schedule he defended
Ph.D. thesis in Veterinary Science. Since then he worked as the
associate professor at the Dagestan Agricultural Institute at the
surgery and obstetrics chair. Since 1961 he worked as the
associate professor of the Stavropol Agricultural Institute. In 1967 he organized the chair of
obstetrics at the institute and headed it. In 1968 he was elected the dean of the faculty of
veterinary medicine. In 1971 he defended doctoral thesis in veterinary sciences, and in 1972
the academic status of the Professor was awarded to him.
In 1983 he was appointed the vice rector for the scientific work of the Stavropol
Agricultural Institute and in 1984 on the order of the Minister of Agriculture of the USSR he
was appointed the rector of the institute. After the state certification in 1993 under his
management the institute was transformed into the Stavropol State Agricultural Academy.
He headed the academy for nearly 15 years. Then he became its president.
Being the disciple of Professor A.P. Studentsov and the successor of his ideas, V.Y.
Nikitin created the Stavropol School of Veterinary Obstetricians. 20 candidate and 8 doctoral
dissertations were successfully defended under the scientific guidence of Professor V.Y.
Nikitin. Now he is the scientific consultant of five full time graduate students and two
doctoral candidates. Professor V. Y.Nikitin and his disciples solve successfully the problems
connected with the reproduction of the agricultural animals, pathology of the reproductive
organs and mammary gland, thus developing new, more effective methods of treatment and
prevention. Results of these researches are reflected in textbooks, educational and
methodical grants, monographs and numerous articles. V.Y.Nikitin published more than 250
of scientific works.
V.Y. Nikitin was twice awarded the State grant of the president of Russia, honorary
titles "The honored worker of science of RSFSR" (1981), the Republics of Dagestan (1998)
and Karachay-Cherkessia (1999). The title of the honourable worker of the Higher education
of Russia was given to him in 1997. He was elected the full member (academician) of three
international academies of Sciences: of the higher school (1994), informatization (1995) and
agrarian education (2000). He was elected the honourable professor by the Academic
council of the Kazan state academy of veterinary medicine. In 1998 on the resolution of the
Stavropol State Duma he was given the rank "The honourable citizen of Stavropol". He is
awarded "the Honour sign order", "The Labour Red Banner order", "the Fatherland merits
order" of the 4th degree, many medals and certificates of honor. In 2008 he was awarded
the medal "For Valorous Work" of the 3rd degree.
We sincerely admire huge talent, vigorous energy, ability to achieve goals and
bright successes of the scientist who has glorified the Russian science, and wish Victor
Yakovlevich good health, vigorous spirits, family wellbeing and new professional
victories for the prosperity of the agrarian science and education!
