M.М. <...> Measures implemented in line with major priorities
of the economic program elaborated for 2013 ensured stable economic growth in the
first quarter of the current year. <...> It was accompanied
by low inflation rate (2.8%) and budget surplus (0.4% of GDP). <...> Industrial output grew by 6%, including consumer goods – by 9.4%, testifying efficiency of measures aimed at further diversification of industrial sectors, promotion of
production expansion and broader range of competitive goods. <...> The measures undertaken with aim to ensure steady increase in incomes of the
population along promotion of domestic consumer demand resulted in the 13.1%
growth in retail trade turnover and 9% growth of services.

The following factors were key factors for preserving high and stable social and
economic growth:
Deep structural transformations in industrial sectors. <...> In the first quarter of 2013
there was achieved dynamic development in such sectors as machine building and
metal working (118.9%), light (113.2%), chemical and petrochemical (107.4%), and
food (106.2%). <...> The share of these sectors in total industrial output grew from 47%
in the first quarter of 2012 to 49.3% in the first quarter of 2013. <...> Due to launching

new production entities, the level of diversification grew from 40.8% in January-March
2012 to 42.6% in the corresponding period of 2013, including due to the rise in labor
productivity by 4.3%. <...> In the first quarter of 2013 the volume of investment into capital assets accounted for UZS 4 trillion 598.6 billion, growing by 7.2% in comparable
prices. <...> The share of investment into production construction represented 68.2% of
total investment. <...> Accelerated development of small business and service sector. <...> INVESTMENT
In the first quarter of 2013 total investment into economy from all sources of funding amounted to UZS 4 trillion 598.6 billion or increased by 7.2% compared to the
corresponding 2012 level. <...> The share
of capital investment in GDP represented 22.8%. <...> In the first quarter of 2013 investment from own funds
of enterprises accounted for UZS 1,741.9 billion which exceeded by 6% the level of the
