Findings of thermometric monitoring of the top layer of permafrost during hydrocarbon production in the European North of Russia

Автор: Pashilov

Ensuring stability of subgrade soil under engineering structures is a critical task at oil field development projects in the Arctic. It is largely determined by the state of the permafrost influenced by natural and man-induced changes to the temperature regime. The issue of permafrost stability forecasting is still underexplored, this entailing a number of challenges for construction and trouble-free operation of facilities in the Far North. The Ardalin Oil and Gas Field (AOGF) is the only project in the Nenets Autonomous District (NAD) where results of extensive temperature measurements carried out in special thermometric wells have been accumulated over a lengthy period of over 20 years. This article contains the findings of thermometric monitoring of the top layer of soil with an average depth interval of 20 metres. Changes in the permafrost temperature regime, in both the presence and absence of sand (soil) filling, over the study period are described in the article. Natural physical and climatic disturbances that rule out the possibility of maintaining a continuous permafrost temperature are identified. In addition, the key sources of man-induced impact on the top layer of permafrost at the location of the AOGF production infrastructure facilities are analysed. This analysis resulted in recommendations that might be of help during design and construction of engineering works in the European North of Russia and serve to minimise thermal impact on frozen ground. Preserving the permafrost layer in its original natural state will help ensure stability of the subgrade of buildings and structures, thereby reducing the chances of any accidents.

FUZZY RELIABILITY EVALUATION OF TWO-STAGE FUZZY WEIGHTED-K-OUT-OF-N SYSTEMS HAVING COMMON COMPONENTS

Автор: Chaube Shshank

This paper introduces a new term namely fuzzy weighted-k-out-of-n system and studies the fuzzy reliability of two-stage fuzzy weighted-k-out-of-n model having common components following triangular membership function. Methods are developed to find the system fuzzy reliability and the minimal cuts and minimal paths for two-stage fuzzy weighted-k-out-of-n systems have been generated. Fuzzy reliability bounds for systems with s-dependent component failures are also generated. Two types of two-stage fuzzy weighted-k-out-of-n models, the Series Fuzzy Weighted (SFW)-k-out-of-n model, and the Parallel Fuzzy Weighted (PFW)-k-out-of-n model, have been applied to evaluate fuzzy reliability in network applications (project management, and the shortest path problems).

FUNCTIONALLY GRADED ROTATING DISCS WITH INTERNAL PRESSURE

Автор: Sahni Manoj

In this paper analytical solution using stress function is developed to determine deformations and stresses (radial and circumferential) made of functionally graded materials subjected to internal pressure. The problem is solved by varying Young’s modulus and density depending on the radial coordinate only, whereas the Poisson’s ratio is taken as constant. The purpose of this research is to find an analytical solution of a thin circular annular rotating disk. The pressure is applied at the internal surface of the disk and the results are compared with those available in literature.

FRACTIONAL ORDER FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEME FOR SPACE FRACTIONAL DIFFUSION EQUATION

Автор: Takale

The aim of this paper is to develop the fractional order implicit finite difference scheme for space fractional diffusion equation (SFDE) with mixed boundary conditions. We also prove that the scheme is unconditionally stable and convergent. As an application of this scheme numerical solution for space fractional diffusion equation is obtained with the help of Mathematica software.

FEA BASED EXPERIMENTAL UNCERTAINTY ANALYSIS OF ROLLER CONVEYOR CHAIN LINK PLATES AND ANALYSIS OF PIN

Автор: Gaikwad

Chain is the most important element of the industrial processes required for transmitting power and conveying of materials. As these chains operate under various forces, failure of chain assembly is the major problem. The scope of this paper is to study about uncertainties in heat treatments and effect of same on the stress strain curve and mechanical properties of chain link plates. Finally, experimentation is carried out on the chain assembly to study the failure of the chain. Furthermore, as lot of work has already been done in other components of chain, in this paper the focus has been narrowed down to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of specific component like pin.
